<p>Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) launches “Skills for Life 2011” during 3-26 July 2011 that aims at improving the scientific and technical and levels of 1100 male and female Emirati Students from grades 9-11. Fourteen technical and higher educational entities will deliver the programs across UAE. The “Skills for Life 2011” will be organized by the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT), Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI) and Emirates Skills according to Mubarak Al Shamesi; Deputy Director General of ACTVET.</p>
<p>Mubarak Al Shamesi said “Skills for life 2011 will include a number of programs that focus on developing various skills of the participants in collaboration with prestigious technical and vocational institutes in UAE”. He invites UAE nationals to join, participate and make use of this vivid and distinguished program.</p>
<p>Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi; Managing Director of IAT and Head of “Skills for Life 2011” Steering Committee said that the program is a new remarkable move that will allow discovering gifts and talents among the Emirati male and female in the fields of technology, aviation, health sciences and other technical fields. Then, working to polish these gifts and developing them using the scientific and educational strategies that will allow to direct students toward new specializations required for the labor market which meet the requirements of knowledge-based economy desired by the UAE leadership.</p>
<p>Dr. Al Shamsi highlights that “Skills for Life 2011” will focus on developing the students’ skills in English language, engineering design, microcontrollers, PC technology, Aviation, health sciences in addition to physical education and cultural activities. Also, it will focus on developing the leadership skills that will crystallize the student’s character, being more attached to UAE and work as a team that reflects the positive and seriousness of performance. In general, “Skills for Life 2011” is a grand opportunity that UAE offers to its young nationals to create Emirati generations who are creative, strong and able to respond to the requirements of the promising technical future of UAE.</p>
<p>He added, the program is open to all male and female national across UAE since it will be delivered in 14 educational entities: Applied Technology High Schools branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain (male and female), Ras Al Khaima and Fujairah, Fatima College of Health and Sciences, Al Ain International Aviation Academy, Al Jazirah Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, Al Jaheli Institute of Science and Technology in Al Ain (male and female), Baynounah Institute of Science and Technology in the Western Region, Al Farazdaq school in Delma Island and Yas Marina Circuit. Emirates Skills will cooperate in the program and will award the winners valuable prizes during the competitions that will take place toward the end of the programs.</p>
<p>The Head of the Steering Committee indicated that “Skills for Life 2011” is free of charge for all UAE nationals; grade 9-11 in all schools. He added that committed students will be have their “Skills Passport” for the first time which will document the acquired skills and will serve as a record that will help the student in the future.</p>
<p>Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi said, “Skills for Life 2011” is a three-week program, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from Sunday-Thursday. He added that Applied Technology High Schools will focus on developing English language skills, technological skills, web design, robotics design and PC technology. Al Ain International Aviation Academy will focus on new designs for aircrafts and engines, aircrafts maintenance. Fatima College of Health and Sciences will focus on first aid and emergency skills, pharmaceutical, drug keeping and using safely, health and safety issues in hospital and effective safety measures. Al Jaheli Institute of Science and Technology in Al Ain will focus on photography, computer hardware and network design, decoration and fashion for girls.</p>
<p>The Head of “Skills for Life 2011” Steering Committee added that the program in Yas Marina Circuit includes race car services, Formula 1 rules and regulations, track safety and paramedics, facilities management. In addition, Al Bayariq program will be integrated into the “Skills for Life 2011” and will aim at developing the leadership skills of the students, instilling the positive ethics of the community that will allow the students to establish successful social relationships and work as a team.</p>
<p>Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi asserted that “Skills for Life 2011” will be implemented through the modern educational and academic frameworks that provide the healthy atmosphere to make use of the summer vacation in building the scientific and personal character of the male and female students that will allow them to achieve high, be creative and hence active members in the creating the developed economic and social future of UAE.</p>

<p>It is likely the new site will make an important contribution to improving communication with the Skills4Life’s participates in line with the school’s administrations and the program’s organizers. An electronic registration form for submitting students applications has been built on the site, along with many other social media features which keeps us and our stakeholders connect at all times.</p>
